WebDec 20, 2024 · Most tropical dung beetles are rollers and tunnellers. Through the burial of dung in underground tunnels, dung beetles can have direct or indirect interactions with plants. Direct interactions occur through the fortuitous manipulation of seeds that are imbedded in dung or in the soil. Dung beetles live in many habitats, including desert, grasslands and savannas, farmlands, and native and planted forests. They are highly influenced by the environmental context, and do not prefer extremely cold or dry weather. They are found on all continents except Antarctica.
