Dhritarashtra (Sanskrit: धृतराष्ट्र, ISO-15919: Dhr̥tarāṣṭra) was a Kuru king, and the father of the Kauravas in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. He was the King of the Kuru Kingdom, with its capital at Hastinapura. He was born to Vichitravirya's first wife, Ambika. Dhritarashtra was born blind. He fathered one hundred sons and one daughter, WebGandhari, Subal's daughter had been cursed that her first husband would die. So what does Subal do? Gandhari's father, he marries Gandhari to a goat, and then kills it so that the curse comes true. Then Gandhari is married to the Dhritrashtra. Then Bhishma comes to know that Dhritrashtra is not Gandhari's first husband, but second husband.
